No-exam life insurance
Learn which applicants qualify for the faster approval process, how the streamlined underwriting works, and what to expect if you don't qualify.
Carriers today frequently use accelerated underwriting: for applicants meeting age and coverage-amount criteria, they make decisions based on your answers, prescription records, driving history, and other accessible information, without an exam. Some carriers can approve you the same day. Every quote here indicates whether an exam is required, might be required, or won't be needed.
What it changes
No exam doesn't mean no underwriting. Your answers get verified, and a policy sold based on false information can be challenged within the first two years. If the carrier's research uncovers something that needs clarification, they can still request an exam or lab results; you'll have the choice to proceed or not.
Who tends to qualify
Generally, applicants under about 60 seeking coverage amounts up to the carrier's threshold, with no serious health issues and no tobacco use in the past year or longer, qualify. If you've had a recent physical with lab results, certain carriers will use those instead of ordering a new exam.
If an exam is needed, it's typically a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedical technician at your home or workplace in the Santa Maria area, at no charge. For people in good health, the exam results sometimes lead to a better rate class, so it can be beneficial.
